Volunteers
The Yellowknife Gymnastics Club is a non-profit, volunteer
organization. We rely on our members to help out to so that we can offer the
best possible programs and activities for our athletes.
Effective September of 2003, the Yellowknife Gymnastics Club has implemented a
mandatory volunteer participation policy.
RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS
For every child who participates in the recreational program, his or her family
will be required to provide a minimum of 3 hours of volunteer time to the Club
for each session in which he or she participates (Fall, Winter, Spring or
Summer) For families who have more than two children in the program, there will
be a cap of six required volunteer hours.
The registration fee for each child participating in the recreational program
will include a Volunteer Deposit of $90.00 per session (with a cap of $180.00
per family) payable at the time of registration in the form of a cheque or Visa
authorization post dated to the last day of the session.
COMPETITIVE and
PRE-COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS
For every child who participates in a Competitive or Pre-Competitive Program
(including Super Kids), his or her family will be required to provide a minimum
of 12 hours of volunteer time to the Club each gymnastics season (September to
August). For families who have more than two children in a competitive or
pre-competitive program, there will be a cap of twenty four required volunteer
hours..
The registration fee for each child participating in a Competitive or
Pre-Competitive program will include a Volunteer Deposit of $360.00 per year
(with a cap of $720.00 per family) payable at the time of registration in the
form of a cheque or Visa authorization post dated to June 30th.
REBATE OF VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT
The Volunteer Deposit will be rebated to the participant at the rate of $30.00
for each volunteer hour completed by the participant or his/her family members.
The rebated amount will be refunded to each athlete when his or her volunteer
obligations have been met or, at the end of each session, to the extent of the
rebate earned. If a child withdraws from the program prior to the second class
of the session, the Volunteer Deposit cheque will be returned in full. If a
child withdraws after the second class of the session, the volunteer deposit (to
the extent not rebated) will be refunded at the time of withdrawal.
Any amount not rebated will be forfeited to the Club.
EXCEPTIONS
Every year the Club undertakes a raffle as its major fund raising event of the
year. Every family is expected to sell at least one book of tickets. The time
spent selling your own book of tickets will not be credited to your volunteer
hours. However, time spent selling other tickets at pre-arranged times and dates
will be credited to your volunteer hours.
Check here on a weekly basis to find projects of the Club which you can
participate in to meet your volunteer commitment. Please sign up at the Gym or
e-mail us at gymnast @ ssimicro.com (no spaces)
with your commitment.
